Worcester Group Meetings

The Worcester Group of Amnesty International meets on the second Wednesday of each month (except August) usually at the Friends Meeting House, Sansome Place. (See events page for location maps and details.) Whenever possible we "Theme" evenings with videos, speakers, workshops, letter writing or other specific activities to tie in with current campaigns. See the list on the Meetings and Events page. Everyone is welcome whether or not you are a member of Amnesty International itself.

The Worcester Group does not have a local membership subscription as such, but we do produce a bi-monthly NewsLetter giving details of current campaigns and events. If you wish to subscribe to that, or would like any other information about the Worcester Group, please email for details.

Worcester Group Current Campaigns

Since October 1999 the Worcester Group has been campaigning for Ko Aye Aung, a student and a Prisoner of Conscience in Myanmar (Burma). His case is one of many concerning that troubled country - see the links on our Ko Aye Aung page. We have on-going work as part of the South Andean Regional Action Network (SANDEAN) and the campaign against the death penalty. Individual members also receive Urgent Action cases to work on.
Current campaign news about most of AIUK's main campaigns can be found on the current campaign pages. In 2008 we will be continuing our commitment to the Stop Violence Against Women campaign and looking, especially, at human rights issues in China in the run-up to the Olympic Games.
